Job Overview

The Load Builder is responsible for accurately building orders for delivery to jobsites as well as helping customers in the yard in a courteous and respectful manner.

Required Accountabilities

• Perform daily inspections of lift trucks and complete required forms
• Ensure lift truck maintenance and servicing requirements are met
• Build orders to required specifications for delivery
• Load and unload building materials in a safe and efficient manner
• Check load contents for accuracy and secure materials
• Unload transport trucks with product for the store and yard
• Ensure all products leaving the yard have been invoiced correctly
• Ensure that all products are shipped on schedule and according to specific instructions by Head Shipper to meet customer demands
• Maintain contact with supervisor and work to resolve issues as they arise
• Maintain accuracy of inventory by reviewing packing slips
• Be knowledgeable about all products stored in the yard and warehouse
• Use proper material handling techniques to ensure minimal damage to yard inventory
• Be familiar with the grades, dimensions and species of lumber stocked in the yard
• Be able to work in the yard during adverse weather conditions.
• Be friendly, courteous and helpful to all customers and staff
• Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Yard Foreman or Store Manager

Job Requirements

• Physically able to perform tasks that require prolonged standing, sitting and other activities that are necessary to perform job duties
• Ability to be active on your feet including climbing ladders and stairs and lifting weight up to 100lbs while rotating and climbing, pushing, pulling, bending and torso twisting movements with weight
• Itemize returned material from customers
• Complete backorders and correspond with sales to co-ordinate product and ensure customer is supplied
• Flexibility in work schedule to meet the demands of the store and management
