A local government organization is seeking 2-3 dependable Lifeguard / Instructor I's to join the aquatics team in Summerland. These part-time or casual roles involve providing lifeguarding services and aquatic instruction at the Summerland Aquatic & Fitness Centre. 2-3 Part-time and/or Casual
The District of Summerland is recruiting 2-3 permanent part-time or casual Lifeguard / Instructor I’s to join our aquatics team. These roles provide lifeguarding and aquatic instruction at the Summerland Aquatic & Fitness Centre. Interested applicants should enjoy working with the public, can adapt to a dynamic work environment, and have flexible availability. All required certifications must be current, and copies of certifications will be requested.
The ideal candidates will be dependable, motivated, team-players with a positive attitude and excellent communication and customer service skills. They must also be a strong swimmer, in excellent physical condition and have the ability to effectively control large groups of people of all ages.
a minimum commitment of 12 hours per week from September to June, and a combined minimum of 40 hours for the months of July and August, pending schedule availability.
for a minimum of 25 hours for each 6-month period (January – June and July – December).
The shift schedule is varied and may include hours between 5:45am – 10:00pm weekdays and 8:15am through 7:30pm on weekends. This is a union position (CUPE 1136), and the hourly wage is $32.13 (January 2026 rate) plus 15% in lieu of benefits for a total hourly wage of $36.95.
