Overview

Your Opportunity: This position is located in Manning, Alberta, 6 hours north of Edmonton. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Manning Community Health Centre is an integral member of the patient care team in a combined facility including Acute Care, Emergency and Long Term Care. The LPN provides direct patient care and support functions consistent with the Licensed Practical Nurse Standards. The LPN is responsible to the Care Manager and works under the direction and guidance of the Staff Nurse. Working in a rural, combined facility offers the opportunity to develop a broad knowledge base and solid nursing foundation. Manning is situated along the Notikewin River and serves the local agriculture, forestry and gas industries. A Remote Retention Allowance of up to $3,000 per year is available for eligible hours, payable at the basic pay rate."

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care and support functions consistent with Licensed Practical Nurse Standards.
  • Work under the direction of the Care Manager and Staff Nurse within a Rural/Community Health Centre setting.
  • Collaborate as part of an interprofessional health care team using nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making.
  • participate in discharge planning and provide patient and family education as required.
Qualifications
  • Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

  • Provide orientation for new staff following established checklists and maintain ongoing competency through learning and experience.
  • Must be able to work shift work and possess basic computer skills.
