Medicine Hat College invites applications for a full-time, regular Open Access Librarian (Library Assistant IV).

Overview

Medicine Hat College is seeking a passionate and forward-thinking Open Access Librarian to join our vibrant library team.

What You’ll Do
  • Champion open access initiatives that expand equitable access to knowledge and scholarly resources. This includes being the advocate for Open Educational Resources and Pressbooks.
  • Serve as a copyright consultant, guiding employees through Canadian copyright law and best practices.
  • Teach information literacy skills to students across disciplines, empowering them to navigate and evaluate information critically.
  • Provide expert library services and support to students and employees.
  • Act as a liaison librarian for assigned departments, fostering strong academic partnerships.
Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science.
  • A minimum of 1-year related experience.
  • Equivalent combinations of post-secondary education and work experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of Open Access principles and initiatives.
  • Experience teaching library information literacy skills.
  • Knowledge of Canadian copyright law, jurisprudence, and procedures.

Hours, Wage and Benefits

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week

Wage Rate: $28.28 per hour (Start Rate); $31.60 per hour (Job Rate)
