Job summary

A Canadian facility maintenance company is seeking a Legal Specialist to manage legal, compliance, and administrative duties supporting Quebec and Eastern Canada. The ideal candidate will handle investigations, advise management on legal matters, and ensure compliance with regulations. A post-secondary diploma in Legal or a related field is preferred. This is a 1 year contract position. Competitive compensation and benefits are offered.

  • Support internal teams on compliance, complaints, and harassment allegations.
  • Advise management on legal and contractual concerns.
  • Contribute to regional projects influencing strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Build positive relationships across the company to support business needs.
  • Coach stakeholders on regulatory and compliance matters.
  • Ensure legal compliance in contracts, policies, and processes per provincial requirements.
  • Coordinate legal issues to align with government and company policies.
  • Lead investigations to determine causes of action and prepare cases.
  • Manage dispute resolution and liaise with external lawyers.
  • File pleadings and maintain court and legal documents.
  • Represent the company in small claims court and mediation.
  • Serve as SME on CNESST policies, facilitating compliance issues.
  • Manage relationships within the Parity Committee in Montreal and Quebec.
  • Ensure compliance with CPEEP reporting deadlines.
  • Investigate claims and manage claims brought against the company.
  • Coordinate with legal counsel on claims and lawsuits.
  • Stay current with labour and employment legislation.
  • Inform and coordinate with internal teams on relevant regulatory changes.
  • Lead change management initiatives for new regulations.
