A leading financial services provider in Toronto is looking for a Legal Counsel to support various commercial and transactional matters. This role involves drafting and negotiating contracts, as well as providing legal advice on commercial strategies. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in commercial law and a strong understanding of technology regulations. This position offers a hybrid work environment with flexibility.

As part of TMX’s legal and corporate affairs team, the Legal Counsel, Commercial Services is responsible for supporting TMX Group Limited and its affiliates on a variety of commercial and transactional matters across the enterprise, including TMX VettaFi, a leading US-based, indexing, digital distribution, and analytics company.Responsibilities:
Must Have Skills:
Qualified legal professional with at least 5 years of relevant, working experience
Knowledge and experience drafting, negotiating, structuring and advising on various types of commercial contracts and transactions, including relating to all aspects of information technology and procurement
Good overall understanding of intellectual property law and other technology-related legal principles
Knowledge of and experience providing advice on privacy law and antispam compliance, including in commercial contracting, digital advertising and marketing, and policy development.
Exceptional written and verbal communication, negotiation and drafting skills
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Team oriented and able to build relationships with all levels of the organization.
Nice to Have Skills: .
Experience working in financial services industry is an asset
Experience working on mergers and acquisitions and integration of acquired businesses is an asset
This role is hybrid (2 - 3 days/week in the office) - based in Toronto, ON.
