Lycopodium is currently recruiting for a Lead Procurement Officer to join our growing Project Services team in Mississauga, ON.

Reporting to the Procurement and Contracts Manager the Lead Procurement Officer will be responsible for the management of procurement and expediting activities of a specific project, or projects, and studies as assigned.

The tasks you’ll perform
  • As a senior representative of the Company, the Lead Procurement Officer must liaise with clients, suppliers, manufacturers and service provider personnel professionally, ethically and efficiently.
  • Responsible and accountable for all assigned procurement, expediting and, as applicable, logistics functions, whether handled personally or delegated to subordinate staff members.
  • Responsible and accountable for the supervision and development of procurement and expediting personnel to ensure optimum performance levels are maintained.
  • Manage all procurement and expediting processes strictly in accordance with documented and authorised company and project specific procedures.
  • Maintain high service level to all Groups.
  • Responsible for the integrity of information maintained within and the timely provision of all relevant procurement and expediting reporting.
  • Responsible for encouraging continuous improvement through productivity monitoring, enabling identification of processes and procedures that can be modified to optimise efficiencies within the procurement and expediting functions, resulting in the provision of more cost‑effective outputs and improved customer service levels.
The expertise you’ll bring
  • A minimum of 10 years direct experience in project procurement, expediting, transport and logistics disciplines in the mining, minerals, engineering, or construction industries.
  • A sound knowledge of international and local procurement practices, tendering, contract laws, regulations, and practices.
  • A sound knowledge of international freight laws, regulations and practices.
  • Demonstrated experience with computerised procurement and logistics systems, and their operation and applications.
  • Staff supervisory and development experience and/or formal training related to supervisory practices and techniques.
  • Analytical, problem solving skills, high-level negotiating skills.
  • Ability to work without supervision with a high degree of professional ethics.
  • A sound knowledge of business mathematics and statistical techniques.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
