Overview

Lethbridge Polytechnic is seeking an Equipment/Laboratory Technician III (8-month leave coverage) to join the Centre for Business, Arts, and Sciences (CBAS). This is a full-time temporary position with a September 19, 2025 – April 30, 2026 timeframe. Working closely with the Lab Coordinator and faculty, the technician will aid in the delivery of laboratory and field components to students. Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills are essential.

Position Details

Job Title: Laboratory Technician III (8-month leave coverage)

Appointment Type: Full-time temporary

Position Dates: September 19, 2025 – April 30, 2026

Hours per week/FTE: 35

The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for Cousin’s Building labs, supporting the equipment room technician, and aiding in the delivery of laboratory and field components to students. The successful candidate will work collaboratively to support a variety of labs and engage with all members of the CBAS community (staff, students, and faculty) as a positive member of the Centre’s administrative team.

Responsibilities
  • Support a range of labs and field components in collaboration with faculty and staff.
  • Assist with laboratory setup, maintenance, and safety practices.
  • Aid in the delivery of laboratory and field components to students.
  • Support the equipment room technician and related lab operations as needed.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Diploma in Biological Sciences, Environmental Science, Physical Science, or Agriculture Science; Bachelor’s degree preferred; 3–5 years’ experience in a lab environment.
  • Ability to multi-task, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact professionally with internal and external clients.
  • Extensive knowledge and proficiency in MS Office including Excel and Word.
  • Familiarity with Lethbridge Polytechnic’s values and culture; commitment to organizational goals with positivity and enthusiasm.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Post-secondary experience.
  • Experience in maintaining and repairing technical field and lab equipment.
Compensation

Salary: AUPE Class Level 8, Step 1 — $25.69/hour
