Job summary

A leading healthcare organization in Winnipeg is seeking a Clinical Molecular Geneticist to join their team. This role requires a Ph.D. and certification in molecular genetics or cytogenetics. The successful candidate will lead in a complex environment, engage in research, and ensure adherence to safety regulations. A commitment to teamwork and customer satisfaction is essential. This is a full-time in-person position with an anticipated start date of ASAP.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in clinical diagnostics in molecular genetics or related fields.
  • Certification in molecular genetics and/or cytogenetics required.
  • Expected to obtain and maintain academic appointment at the University of Manitoba.

Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview
Experience
  • Previous experience in clinical diagnostics in at least one of the following areas: molecular genetics, cytogenetics, or laboratory genetics and genomics.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Ph.D., Certified in molecular genetics and/or cytogenetics or in genetic and genomic diagnostics/laboratory genetics and genomics from either:
    • Canadian College of Medical Geneticists (CCMG).
    • American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG).
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Fellow of the Canadian College of Medical Geneticists and/or American Board of Medical Genetics for Molecular Genetics and/or Cytogenetics.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Specialized knowledge of clinical and laboratory molecular genetics, cytogenetics, and/or genetics and genomics. Demonstrates the ability to lead as needed in a complex, rapidly changing environment and to promote teamwork, collaboration, and partnership.
  • Ability to identify and prioritize options as potential solutions to problems and issues.
  • Is creative, innovative, enthusiastic, and respected.
  • Has a strong commitment to customer satisfaction and quality health service.
  • Has excellent analytical skills.
  • Expected to maintain proficiency through participation in appropriate professional societies and continuing education programs.
  • Expected to obtain and maintain an academic appointment at the University of Manitoba and to participate in collaborative and independent research programs.
  • Adheres to all safety and health regulations and safe work practices.
Physical Requirements
  • Time will be spent in an office and laboratories within the Genomics discipline.
  • Incumbent must be able to work under pressure and competing demands and deadlines and deal effectively with difficult situations.

This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.
