Job summary

A healthcare facility in Canada is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant to provide high quality service in a clinical laboratory environment. Responsibilities include specimen procurement, testing, and reporting results. Candidates should have completed an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program and have experience with blood collection procedures and urinalysis. Experience in a healthcare setting and with specific applications is preferred.

Qualifications

Description

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications :

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications :

Completion of an accredited urinalysis course including microscopic analysis. Urinalysis experience including microscopic analysis is required. Cardiology training and experience including ECG's and Holter Monitors. Able to perform all blood collection procedures including venipuncture, micro-punctures, blood culture collection as well as collections on all patient ages including newborns, pediatrics and geriatrics.

Preferred Qualifications :

Experience with Connect Care Epic is an asset. Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. Experience using MUSE and Cardioday applications. Familiar with Clinitek Advantus.
