Job description
Overview

Knifewear Retail Sales Associate

Knifewear has spent nearly 20 years offering Canada the widest selection of Japanese kitchen knives sharpening supplies and cookware.

We are looking for staff who are interested in offering people genuine hospitality. Our goal is to constantly challenge the status quo and destroy classic retail. Retail can be a rewarding career; customers and staff should leave feeling more than just satisfied. We say that work should be enjoyable and help improve your life. Customers should buy things that help them enjoy their lives while having fun. We build community through our store and events that gather people who enjoy food, cooking, and hand crafted tools.

Restaurant experience is not required but is generally considered an asset; we love working with cooks and chefs—most of us used to be one. Bonus points go to fans of Lou Reed, Frank Frazetta, or the Coen Brothers.

We are dedicated to providing an inclusive and safe space for any and all who come through our doors—staff and customers alike. Knifewear welcomes applications from people of any and all backgrounds including but not limited to racialized persons; refugees, newcomers and immigrant persons; 2SLGBTQIA persons and persons with disabilities. Please advise us of any accommodations needed to ensure you can access and complete the submissions process by reaching out to .

Our favourite type of people :

  • Love food; either cooking it or eating it.
  • Balance creativity and action.
  • Are driven to contribute and bring solutions to the problems they come across.
  • Are interested in learning and take charge of their own success.
  • Are personable and engaging.
  • Have an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Want to help people make decisions that lead to positive interactions.

Along with your resume we need to see a cover letter explaining your reasons for wanting this specific job. It is important for us to know why you applied to work at Knifewear and to get an idea of who you are—the more personality the better if you ask me.

Once we have your application our hiring manager will reach out to you should they have any additional questions and next steps would be to schedule a phone interview. A successful phone conversation will result in at least one meeting (virtual or in-person) including the hiring manager.

Please note that we will only be replying to applicants that we are interested in interviewing.

Thank you for your time so far and we look forward to talking with you.
