Job summary

A community-focused multi-service agency in Ontario is seeking a Kinship Services Worker for a permanent full-time role. The incumbent will support out-of-care families by providing services including screening, assessment, and training. Ideal candidates will possess a Bachelor’s degree, have knowledge of kinship standards, and demonstrate cultural sensitivity. Qualifications

  • Up to three months practical experience required.

Job description

Linck Child, Youth & Family Supports (“Linck”) requires one (1) Kinship Services Worker. This is a permanent, full‑time position beginning as soon as possible.

The incumbent provides a variety of services related to the ongoing support of Kinship Services (out‑of‑care) families. Responsibilities include initial screening and assessment, orientation, training, and approval processes for individuals interested in providing Kinship Services for a child/youth, as well as selection and placement of a child/youth in a Kinship Service (out‑of‑care) home upon the request of another social worker.

Qualifications
  • Four‑year Honours Bachelors degree (BA); Bachelor of Social Work degree (BSW); or Indigenous degree would be an asset.
  • Preference given to candidates who have completed the Child Welfare Pathway to Authorization Series and/or are Authorized workers.
  • Up to three (3) months of practical experience.
  • Up‑to‑date knowledge of Kinship Service Standards and Ministry Regulations would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of the Differential Response Model for Child Protection in Ontario as well as of the Child, Youth and Family Services Act, Ministry standards and guidelines and Agency policies and procedures would be an asset.
  • Completed training in PRIDE curriculum and SAFE home study tool would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of dynamics of separation and attachment between parent figures and children.
  • Preference given to persons with a strong understanding and extensive experience working with other cultures, heritages and traditions.
  • A commitment to developing the highest quality culturally‑responsive service possible for the various communities that we serve.
  • Computer and keyboarding skills.
  • The ability to communicate in French is an asset.
  • A valid driver’s license and use of a reliable personal vehicle.
