Overview

BakerHicks is looking for a Junior Quantity Surveyor to support our commercial team across live sites within an hour of Motherwell, working on technically complex projects in the life sciences and process sectors.

This role is ideal for someone with early career experience in quantity surveying who’s ready to take on more responsibility in a hands-on, site-based environment. You’ll work closely with experienced QS professionals, contractors, and project teams to support the smooth commercial delivery of live projects.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Assisting with subcontractor procurement and administration
  • Supporting valuations, variations, and cost reporting
  • Managing documentation and commercial compliance processes
  • Tracking project spend and assisting with forecasting
  • Collaborating with engineers, planners, and site delivery teams
What You’ll Bring
  • Experience in construction or engineering commercial processes within sectors that BakerHicks operates in like Life sciences, Defence, Power etc.
  • Understanding of contract forms (NEC4 experience is a plus)
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • A proactive, collaborative approach
  • Willingness to work on site 3–4 days per week within an hour of Motherwell
  • Ability to drive to the site and have a driver\'s License
