Overview

This role will respond to business requirements aiming to specify, implement and support the required infrastructure solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Support Scotiabank's equity trading business by developing and enhancing our real-time streaming technology platform which is the foundation for Central Risk Book trading.
  • Ensure systems are up and running on a daily basis, working with the GBM equities technology team and other essential technology groups to ensure data dependencies are complete before market open.
  • Collaborate with business, quantitative, and technology teams on a frequent and open basis.
  • Follow Scotiabank's best practices for compliance and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or above in an engineering, computer science, or STEM-related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience with software development; learning, designing, developing, testing, and debugging software/web applications.
  • Proficiency in one or more object-oriented programming languages; Java (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Spring Boot, Angular, Python, SQL.
  • Familiarity with relational databases such as MSSQL, Oracle, etc.
  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments (basic commands, shell scripting, etc.).
  • A strong sense of pride and ownership; proactive behaviors to identify potential issues before they happen.
  • Remain calm during periods of higher stress/pressure.
Preferred
  • Experience with real-time event-driven multi-threaded distributed systems.
  • Experience with web applications.
  • Experience with source control and CI/CD systems like Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins.
  • Experience with front office equities market making/trading.
  • Analytical and inquisitive.
