Job description

We are currently recruiting for a Junior Claims Adjuster to join our claims adjusting team in Ontario, Canada.

This is a hybrid position. All applicants selected for the role must attend the first 2 weeks of in-person training on-site in Waterloo, Toronto, or Mississauga.

The successful candidate will participate in ongoing training across various adjusting roles, with opportunities to shadow in different departments. Each individual in this training program will work in 3-4 areas within their first two years.

Responsibilities
  • Investigation, collection, and analysis of claims information
    • Telephone interviewing claimants and witnesses
    • Directing field adjusters to obtain evidence
    • Obtaining official documents
  • Evaluates coverage, liability, and quantum
  • Confirms and documents coverage
  • Assesses evidence and applies liability analysis
  • Reviews medical records and assesses damages to reserve appropriately
  • Negotiates, settles, and finalizes claims
  • Negotiates with first and third parties
  • Obtains all documentation to complete claims
  • Facilitates payment and maintains bordereau
  • Accurate recording, reporting, and presentation of files
  • Documents all activities in the system
  • Reports promptly to the supervisor
  • Maintains master claims file
  • Maintains accurate billing, and records of time and expenses
  • Completes precise time capture and docketing
  • Generates and processes client invoicing
  • Works with the manager to maintain client relations
  • Ensures compliance with client programs and standards
  • Answers inquiries promptly and resolves issues efficiently
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of commercial and personal lines in Property and Auto PD is an asset
  • Post-secondary education in an insurance-related field, working towards full license and CIP designation
  • Ability to conduct telephone investigations, evaluate, negotiate, and settle claims
  • Proficient in maintaining detailed activity, transaction, and reserve records
  • Advanced skills in Office 365 and Windows 10
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be a team player committed to quality and customer service
  • French/English bilingualism is an asset
  • Commitment to continuous learning
