Qualifications

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Mine Superintendent, you will be part of the Mine Department. You will be responsible for delivering effective classroom and field-based training and assessments. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Provide classroom and field-based health, safety, and mobile equipment training in accordance with training plans
  • Evaluate worker competency in both theoretical and practical applications
  • Assist trainees by providing ongoing mentoring to attain higher levels of competency
  • Take ownership of health and safety issues using the Internal Responsibility System (IRS)
  • Undertake regular reviews of curriculum and update as may be required to ensure effective delivery and adherence to legislation and site safe work practices
  • Develop new training materials related to manufacturer’s specifications and operational/maintenance procedures, corporate and regulatory standards, and objectives
  • Ensure adherence to document control procedures and best practices
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 10 years of experience in underground mining, with 3-5 years in an underground training role is considered an asset
  • Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and O. Reg. 854 – Mines and Mining Plants
  • Ontario Supervisory Common Core is considered an asset
  • Practical knowledge and experience in delivering training on the following equipment:
  • Jumbo drill rigs including: Epiroc T1D, SD1, 282 Boomer & S2C and Sandvik DD321 (both face drilling and bolting)
  • Train the Trainer qualification from a recognized Ontario training provider
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint
