Job description

The server assistant is responsible for assisting servers in delivering the dining experience in the restaurant. This is a great position for someone who wants to learn the ins and outs of the Food and Beverage industry but doesn’t quite have the experience yet. The server assistant’s watchful presence ensures that guest needs are taken care of when the server is away. The restaurant and pool bar are clean, sanitized and organized because the server assistant has a passionate hate for dirt and mess. Bussing tables, expediting food and assisting the host with table setups keeps the server assistants very busy in this physical job. In addition to the restaurant and running food to the pool, the server assistants are also called upon to assist with serving during banquet functions when they arise.

Responsibilities
  • Guest Services Support: Assist guests and senior servers with menu information in an informative and helpful way, ensuring a positive dining experience.
  • Food and Beverage Delivery: Deliver food orders and beverages from the kitchen/bar to the appropriate tables quickly and accurately.
  • Table Maintenance: Clear dirty dishes, glassware, and flatware from tables (pre-bussing and bussing) and reset them for the next patrons.
  • Dining Area Upkeep: Maintain overall cleanliness and organization of the dining room, server stations, and surrounding areas.
  • Side Work: Perform preparatory and closing duties, such as rolling silverware, restocking condiments and supplies, and ensuring all equipment is clean and stored properly.
  • Communication & Teamwork: Act as a liaison between the front-of-house and back-of-house staff, relaying important information like special requests or allergies to the kitchen.
  • Safety & Sanitation: Adhere to all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverages to comply with health code standards.
Qualifications
  • Must be 19 years of age or older
  • Must have Serving it Right Certificate or equivalent from another recognized provincial regulator
  • A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work as a team player in a busy restaurant or banquet floor
  • Multi tasker who doesn’t crack under pressure
  • A smooth sales style of selling Food and Beverage to customers
  • A great eye for detail
  • Great physical shape as you will be holding a tray all day and helping to move tables
  • Able to be on your feet all day
  • A polished style of service
  • Able to work in the heat of an Okanagan patio
