Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in the medium and/or heavy-duty commercial truck industry.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• CSO or CSTS/OSSA or BSO certification needed.

Job description

Thompson Construction Group has an immediate opening for a Journeyman Commercial Truck and Transport Mechanic working from our Fort McMurray area of operations.

Responsibilities

• Interpret work orders, service manuals, and technical documentation
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled preventive maintenance and repairs
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic issues using visual inspections, operator input, test driving, and diagnostic tools
• Complete repairs or replace defective parts, components, or systems as required
• Test and inspect vehicles to ensure repairs meet manufacturer specifications and government regulations
• Communicate additional repair requirements to the supervisor in a timely manner
• Maintain accurate and complete maintenance and service records
• Assist with the training and mentorship of apprentices and other technicians as required

Qualifications

• Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician – Truck and Transport Mechanic (Red Seal)
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the medium and/or heavy-duty commercial truck industry
• Valid driver’s license
• CSO or CSTS/OSSA or BSO certification
• Strong technical and product knowledge
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills
• Ability to manage high workloads in fast-paced and demanding environments
• Proven attention to detail and accuracy while multitasking
• Willingness to work in the Fort McMurray area and live in remote camps when required
• Ability to work a 20 days on / 10 days off rotational schedule (days and nights)
• Ability to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test
• Provincial Safety Inspection and CVIP certification considered an asset
