Support a skilled and engaged team as Assistant Chief Steward, where your care and inspection of all flatware, tableware and kitchen equipment will ensure a superior standardWhat you will be doing:Reporting to the Chief Steward, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:Consistently offering professional, engaging and friendly service.Ensuring the highest degree of cleanliness and maintenance in accordance with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts standards, policies and procedures.Lead, teach, coach and inspire a team of 30 including a supervisor.Conduct semi-annual and periodic inventories to ensure par stocks and resource availability are maintained within all Food and Beverage outlets and kitchens and determine breakageConduct daily inspections of all Food and Beverage areas and kitchens on a daily basis to ensure cleanliness and compliance with local health/sanitation codesAssist in the correct ordering and usage of all chemicals within the department and outlets, including appropriate training in accordance with provincial WHMIS legislationAttend any required meetings including Department Head meetings, weekly Food and Beverage division meetings and stewarding meetingsAssist the Chief Steward with the recruitment, orientation, training and scheduling of all colleagues and supervisorsAssist the Chief Steward to exceed budgetary guidelines for operating supplies and laborProvide support and direction to the team of leaders within Stewarding with respect to performance management and continuous learningFoster an environment of cooperation within the department and between other departments within the hotelEncourage participation and input from all colleagues while promoting professional work habits that will ensure that the department is being guided at all time by Fairmont's Mission, Vision and ValuesHave a proactive eye for detail and cleanlinessReview banquet event orders to forecast equipment and supply requirementsActively participate in all of the hotel's committeesCompliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks and ensure a clean, safe working environment with active participation in the hotel's health and safety programAdhere to all environmental policies and programs as requiredOther reasonable duties as assignedQualificationsYour experience and skills include:2 years leadership experience within the Stewarding department required or management experience within Food and BeverageMust have valid drivers license class 5 and be able to obtain an Alberta Drivers licenseDiploma or Degree in Hospitality Management an assetExcellent communication (written & verbal) and interpersonal skillsMust be computer strong with knowledge of Excel, Word, and electronic mailCompletion of Train the Trainer & Interaction Management an assetMust be results orientated, self-motivated, highly organized with an eye for detailMust be committed to safety and good environmental practices in the work placeAbility to work in a fast paced, diverse environmentExcellent problem solver and decision makerAdditional InformationVisa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
