Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience repairing CAT equipment.
  • Completion or in process of Finning S-level courses.
  • Ability to work safely with minimal supervision.

Position Overview

Finning Canada is looking for a passionate and experienced Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic (Red Seal preferred) to join our team dedicated to servicing our customers on the North Island. This is a Resident position based out of Port McNeill or Port Hardy. You will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairs, maintenance and diagnostics of a variety of Caterpillar equipment. Job Description
Major Job Functions
  • Troubleshooting and repairing Caterpillar and other Forestry type equipment in field environment
  • Interface with customers, products and sales support
  • Providing support with reference to on-site safety requirements
  • Maintain Finning Customer Service Commitment
  • Various related duties as required
Candidate Selection

Candidate selection will be in compliance with the terms of the current Collective Agreement

Specific Skills & Experience
  • Interprovincial Journeyperson Mechanic/Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) Certification
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience repairing CAT equipment
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Completion, or in the process of completing all Finning S- level courses
  • Self-motivated and computer literate
  • Experience with SIS and Warranty Systems as well as a good understanding of Finning systems, would all be assets
  • Successful candidate will need to be customer orientated and motivated to meet the customer's expectations
  • Ability to work safely with minimal supervision
  • Communicate and schedule repairs with customers. Keep customers informed of status of repairs.
Important Details
  • This position will work a Monday to Friday – 5 x 2 Schedule
  • Evenings and weekends required based on customer needs
  • A recent driver’s abstract is required
  • Please be advised, the successful candidate for this position will reside in Port McNeill or Port Hardy.
  • Union Membership: You are required to become a member of the Union associated with this position. This will be effective immediately and will result in union dues being deducted from your pay. The terms and conditions of your employment will be governed by the collective agreement.
