Posting will close Feb 17, 2026. Location is flexible within Alberta, dependent on the successful applicant. However, periodically it may be asked to work in other AFSC branches. Travel in these circumstances will be reimbursed according to AFSC’s Employee and Board of Directors Expense Policy.

Summary of the Role

Reporting to the Manager, Digital Security, the IT Security Analyst – Vulnerability & Awareness is responsible for maintaining, evolving, and strengthening AFSC’s information security practices, with a primary focus on vulnerability management and security awareness.

In this role, you will proactively identify and evaluate information security risks, assess the impact of vulnerabilities and system changes, and work collaboratively with technical teams and business partners to implement security practices that align with AFSC’s policies, standards, and strategic risk posture.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining technical security work with education, collaboration, and continuous improvement, while contributing to the protection of systems that support Alberta’s agriculture industry.

  • Build deep expertise in enterprise vulnerability management and security awareness programs
  • Expand exposure to cloud security, penetration testing, and enterprise risk management

What Will You Be Responsible For?
  • Lead and coordinate vulnerability scanning, remediation tracking, and penetration testing activities across AFSC’s technology environment
  • Partner with system owners and technical teams to assess, prioritize, and reduce information security risks
  • Develop and deliver organization‑wide security awareness and phishing simulation programs
  • Manage security vendors, contracts, and related performance metrics
  • Maintain security reporting, dashboards, and compliance support aligned with recognized frameworks
  • Contribute to security policies, incident response, asset management, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Translate business requirements into appropriate security controls

Working knowledge of:

  • Vulnerability management and risk prioritization (e.g., CVSS)
  • Infrastructure, cloud, network, and endpoint security
  • Vulnerability scanning tools, SIEM, and threat intelligence
  • Familiarity with security frameworks and standards such as ISO 27001, NIST, ITIL, ISO 20000, COBIT, and COSO
