About the Opportunity

Methanex is currently seeking an Inventory Analyst to join the team in Medicine Hat, AB, on a full-time basis.

The Inventory Analyst plays a key role in optimizing inventory performance by ensuring accuracy, integrity, and efficiency across all processes. This position is responsible for ongoing monitoring, analysis, and recommendations to maintain optimal stocking levels, collaborating closely with supervisors and stakeholders to meet financial, safety, and environmental objectives. By applying best practices, leveraging software tools, and using advanced analytical techniques, the Inventory Analyst supports material availability, drives cost savings, enhances reliability, and contributes to overall operational excellence.

More specifically, your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintain optimal stock levels through proactive replenishment, trend analysis, and use of Spares Optimization Software (SOS) to ensure material availability and cost savings
  • Analyze and categorize inventory using ABC analysis, criticality, and priority levels to support reliability and risk management
  • Plan and execute inventory counts, resolve discrepancies, and manage obsolescence programs to minimize business risk
  • Maintain an accurate and reliable inventory database, ensuring alignment with best practices, audits, and financial reconciliation requirements
  • Collaborate with supervisors, maintenance, and planners to forecast inventory needs for daily operations, projects, and turnarounds
  • Partner with vendors on consignment agreements, obsolescence reviews, and strategic stocking arrangements to optimize inventory levels
  • Monitor incoming/outgoing stock, shipments, and stock loans, ensuring accurate documentation and timely resolution of discrepancies
  • Support compliance with quality control standards, safety requirements, and regulatory codes, including Alberta Boiler and Pressure Code and PEIM responsibilities
  • Lead investigations into data abnormalities and incidents, implementing corrective and preventive actions while fostering continuous improvement
  • Provide timely reports on inventory performance, stock movement, and cost indicators to support decision-making and financial reporting
  • Ensure warehouse operations are safe, clean, and efficient, while overseeing tool management, equipment tracking, and vendor compliance on site
  • Promote Responsible Care principles, business ethics, and legislative compliance, while fostering collaboration and continuous improvement across teams
About You

To qualify, you will need a Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) designation and a minimum of 5-6 years of experience in procurement or accounting, including at least 2 years in warehousing, inventory, or a related role within the petrochemical sector.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Post-secondary education in Business or Engineering
  • Journeyperson Parts Technician Ticket
  • Valid forklift/lift truck operator safety certification
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information training
  • Proficiency with Maximo or other Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), with the ability to generate reports and analyze data
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, reporting, and modeling
  • Formal training in Inventory Management
  • Physical ability to safely lift up to 30 lbs
