Job description

ChampionX is seeking a detail-oriented Intermediate Drafter in our UltraFab group located in Rockyview, AB, to support engineering and fabrication activities through the creation of accurate technical drawings and models. This role is focused on traditional drafting responsibilities and will utilize AutoCAD with Cadworx to produce layout drawings, P&IDs, and 3D models for new and existing equipment and facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote a safe work environment and actively support a safety-first culture; report all incidents, near misses, or injuries promptly.

  • Create and revise layout drawings, process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and 3D models using AutoCAD and Cadworx.

  • Collaborate with internal team members and external vendors to ensure design accuracy and alignment with project requirements.

  • Apply knowledge of piping systems, pressure vessel codes, and instrumentation in drafting work.

  • Review and verify design drawings to ensure compliance with specifications and welding standards.

Position Details:

  • Immigration sponsorship not available for this role.

  • Work schedule: Monday to Friday, Hybrid with one 1-day working from home.

  • Office-based role in Rockyview, AB

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of a 2–3-year college program in engineering design and drafting technology or a related field.

  • Minimum 3 years of industry/related experience.

  • At least 1 year of experience in a fabrication environment.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Cadworx.

  • Understanding of Nalco Champion safety policies, procedures, and best practices.

  • Working knowledge of piping systems, pressure vessels, and structural welding.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Trade certification for a draftsperson or certification in engineering design and drafting technology.

  • Strong time management and multitasking abilities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Advanced interpersonal and collaboration skills.
