Position summary

The maintenance technician level 2 is responsible for the upkeep of all equipment and property facilities with minimal downtime by providing day-to-day maintenance. Complete work orders from all departments on a timely basis by following hotel SOPs and directions from management. Support maintenance service improvements for guests, other departments, and staff. Reports to the Maintenance Superintendent.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to guest repair requests.
  • Operate electrical, plumbing, and boiler systems; interpret readings from meters and gauges.
  • Communicate with team and other departments; review new maintenance requests and update remarks upon completion.
  • Set up and break down event spaces as needed.
  • Read blueprints, schematic drawings, and technical parts breakdowns.
  • Perform maintenance activities in guest rooms and public spaces (e.g., plunging toilets, unclogging drains, repairing hardware, electrical equipment, HVAC and ducts).
  • Program TVs and room door locks; test, troubleshoot, and repair equipment.
  • Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment; perform daily pre-operation inspections and file reports.
  • Operate site vehicles safely per policy; maintain inventory and request parts as needed.
  • Monitor fire alarm and life safety systems and report issues promptly.
  • Maintain knowledge of safety manuals and safety procedures.
  • Read and understand safety and maintenance documentation; follow written and oral instructions.
  • Assist with maintaining facility and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Maintenance Superintendent, Level 3 or General Manager.

Prerequisites

  • Knowledge of building management/maintenance with customer service focus.
  • Working knowledge of maintenance software and Microsoft applications.
  • Current and valid Class 5 driver\'s license; willingness to obtain training to operate site equipment (site vehicles, skid loader, snow gear, etc.).
  • Safety training is an asset (fall arrest, first aid, etc.).
  • Criminal background check required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; English proficiency (written and spoken).
  • 1–2 years of experience in a similar role.
