Network Operations Engineer

The Network Operations Engineer position is a hands-on role to manage, monitor, and support the network infrastructure and services. Working within the Network Operations Team, you will provide support in resolving incidents, implementing customer requests, delivering projects, proposing service improvements, and mentoring junior team members.

This role suits an individual with experience in a 2nd or 3rd line support environment and proven troubleshooting skills within a large organization. While a minimum of CCNP certification is expected, a passion for networking is equally important. Responsibilities include managing data center activities such as commissioning and decommissioning network devices, and travel to data centers or sites as needed.

Your role within the team

As part of the ITS, IT Infrastructure, Network Operations team, you will report to the Network Operations Team Lead and be responsible for:

  • Responding quickly and effectively to network issues, incidents, and outages.
  • Resolving support calls related to network incidents up to the 3rd line.
  • Working on assigned incidents, change requests, and project tasks.
  • Mentoring junior team members.
  • Evaluating network change requests.
  • Performing maintenance and upgrades on network devices.
  • Using and configuring network monitoring tools to identify and resolve issues proactively.
  • Updating technical documentation, network diagrams, processes, and procedures.
  • Ensuring compliance with operational processes and SOPs.
  • Providing weekend on-call support as per the roster.
  • Staying informed about developments in networking and network monitoring.
  • Identifying opportunities for service improvement through automation or procedural changes.
  • Supporting data center tasks, incidents, and firmware upgrades for Nexus and Catalyst switches.
  • Managing network devices—rack, stack, commissioning, and decommissioning.
  • Visiting data centers for hands-on support as needed.
  • Coordinating with ISPs to resolve link outage incidents.
  • Occasional travel to user sites based on business needs.

Qualifications for the position

  • Bachelor's degree in IT or a related field.

  • Extreme wireless platform.
  • Riverbed SteelConnect and Steelhead.
