Job summary

A community support organization in Canada is seeking Support Staff / Mentors to provide culturally sensitive care and mentorship to youth living independently. This full-time or part-time role includes responsibilities such as assisting youth with daily activities, promoting life skills, and participating in cultural events. Ideal candidates will have an understanding of Indigenous cultures and experience in youth care.

Qualifications

  • Must have knowledge, experience and understanding of Indigenous culture and traditions.
  • Ability to provide services through an Indigenous lens.
  • Willingness to obtain necessary training.

Responsibilities

  • Transport youth to appointments and provide support.
  • Encourage participation in cultural activities.
  • Assist in developing life skills.

Skills

Understanding of Child and Family Services system
Knowledge of Indigenous cultures
Ability to handle sensitive situations
Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365

Education

High school completion
2 years’ experience in youth care
