Davies is seeking a Risk Control Consultant to work as an independent contractor.

The role primarily involves Property and Casualty Insurance-based inspections, with a focus on consultative projects that enhance understanding of risk and reduce exposures, leading to fewer accidents, injuries, losses, and claims. Davies North America is a leading provider of Insurance Inspections, Risk Control Consulting, and Loss Control services.

Due to the expansion of our services, the Risk Consulting Division requires experienced independent contractor specialists in areas such as Fire Protection, Loss Prevention, Risk Control, and Mitigation. Our industry clients are diverse and include:

Qualifications include:

  • Progressive career advancement and technical skills through continuing education and/or a degree in Fire Protection, B.Sc., M.Sc., or equivalent.
  • Professional designations such as EIT, P.Eng., CRM, CRSP, CIT, CIP are highly desirable but not mandatory.
  • Strong knowledge and proven success in at least two of the following areas:
    • HPR / Large Property
    • Business Interruption
    • Construction-related operations
    • Commercial Fleet Operations
    • General Liability, Products Liability, Life Safety
    • Environmental Assessments
    • Safety Training, Workplace Safety, Ergonomics, Industrial Hygiene
    • Hazard Analysis and Consulting

Additional helpful criteria:

  • Ability to travel throughout Ontario
  • Certified instructor/trainer and presentation skills are desirable
  • Completion of insurance institute courses is a plus

Position requirements include:

  • Bilingual in English and French is highly preferred
  • Consultative and client-service approach
  • Self-management, personal drive, and pride in work
  • Ability to write clear, concise, and comprehensive reports
  • Proficiency with typical office software
  • Ability to operate a vehicle and visit client sites, including overnight travel when needed
