Responsibilities
  • Determine classifications of Goods (e.g. tariff classifications, regulations and duty rates for import/export of goods.
  • Ensure efficient flow of product through Dept.
  • Negotiate freight rates with domestic and international carrier services.
  • Interface with Customs for international shipments. Resolve transportation delays based on discussions with customs authorities.
  • Supporting Export and Import Control Requirements.
  • Either provides all shipping and receiving or leads this activity with assistance of shipping technicians in actual shipping and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments and preparing items for shipping.
  • Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness and condition of shipment.
  • Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications.
Our ideal candidate has
  • 2-5 years experience with Import and Export
  • Solid knowledge of transportation procedures and policies as well as international ocean/air transportation document requirements.
  • Fully conversant with all applicable Custom laws, regulations, procedures and industry practices.
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with ITAR Regulations, Controlled Goods, Customs and Transportation of Dangerous goods, considered an asset.

As a condition of employment, candidate must successfully pass a security evaluation per the requirements of the Controlled Goods Directorate of Canada and to CAE being able to obtain all necessary re-transfer authorization in compliance with US ITAR regulations.
