This position is responsible for providing Human Resources consultation in the functional areas of Employee Relations, Health and Safety, Performance Management, and Employee Engagement. This position is also responsible for the communication and consistent application of company policy and procedures.
Responsibilities
Compliance
- Review porta report for expired SIN and work permit expiry dates and follow-up with team member.
- Audit the new hire onboarding for compliance. (Safety Video, Onboarding Checklist). Follow-up with site management.
- Lead employee-related investigations to conclusion.
- Support the management team with performance improvement plans and performance management documentation up to termination.
- Manage the STD program. Receive medical documentation, place on leave, follow-up for updated medical, forward LTD paperwork. Coordinate return to work and any required accommodation.
- Provide administrative support for salary adjustments, promotions, transfer, leave of absences and terminations.
Health & Safety
- Ensure the H&S Boards are updated with relevant company and legislative posting requirements.
- Coordinate training for committee members and ensure that the expiry date is noted for recertification. (JHSC, First Aid & AED)
- Participate in the site H&S meetings and inspections as scheduled.
- Ensure H&S training has been completed during onboarding and facilitate training on topics provided by the Health and Safety department.
- Manage WSIB compliance with site management. Enter all relevant information into resolver and forward to Windly Ely. Follow-up with the team member on all medical documentation and to ensure modified duties are provided. Meet with Return-to-work specialists as required and close off all incident/accidents in Resolver when file is closed.
Existing TM & New Hire Questions, Concerns & Feedback
- Meet with newly hired team members to solicit their feedback on their onboarding experience. Ensure benefit enrollment and beneficiary forms are completed and submitted on time.
- Review safety videos and policies if they need clarification.
- Field team member questions and concerns with a resolution with management
- Be visible on-site floor and lunchroom.
Communication, Employee Engagement & Retention
- Responds to Team Member concerns while walking the floor
- Ensure policies and programs are communicated to site management.
- Support the rollout of the EOS by ensuring team members are scheduled off the floor to complete survey. Facilitate the communication of dashboards and support the documentation of action items. Follow-up with management that the results have been shared during town halls with team members and audit periodically throughout the year that the action items are measured.
- Provide employment letters, promotions, transfer letters and ensure Porta is updated.
- Check TV’s for updated content.
- Our Star Boad contains updated pictures of winners.
- Participate in town halls, present relevant HR information/updates.
- Participate in site culture events. Attend social activities to build presence and team engagement. (Holiday Events, Milestones/Birthdays/Retirement, & Culture Events)
Recruitment & Selection
- In collaboration with the Recruitment team implements strategies for recruitment that are inclusive
- Provides support in sourcing and screening of candidates, conducts interviews, checks references, completes background checks, and prepares offer letters for successful candidates.
- Provides response to HR questions as requested via the company’s website.
Education and Experience
- Post secondary education/certification in Human Resources preferred.
- Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL)
- 4 – 7 years
Must be able to travel between the sites within GTA
