Part-Time HR & Payroll Generalist

Key Responsibilities
  • Create, review and update client policies, handbooks, and other documents to ensure they are compliant with the relevant legislation as well as best practice.
  • Investigate and resolve employee relations issues.
  • Provide advice on performance and disciplinary issues.
  • Mentor internal HR Coordinators.
  • Assist with the administration and facilitation of terminations and suspensions per client needs.
  • Coordinate employee and/or disability leaves.
  • Administer training sessions and/or seminars.
  • Keep current with existing and proposed laws and regulations affecting HR practices.
  • Assist with specialized projects such as job descriptions, compensation reviews, HR audits, and HRIS implementations.
  • Provide recruitment support.
  • Initiate strategic planning, reinforce processes, and ensure compliance.
  • Other HR & Administrative tasks, as required.
Payroll Functions
  • Perform full-cycle payroll processing for multiple clients, ensuring compliance with federal and provincial regulations, including Alberta’s payroll standards.
  • Maintain payroll records, including employee data, tax information, and deductions.
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries from clients and employees in a timely manner.
  • Assist with year-end payroll tasks, including preparing T4s and other government filings.
  • Ensure accurate remittances to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and other government bodies.

The Minimum Qualifications
  • Post‑secondary education in Human Resources.
  • 3+ years of HR generalist experience.
  • Full cycle payroll experience.
  • CPHR designation, or interest in pursuing the designation, is considered an asset.
  • PCP or CPM designation would be considered an asset.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 is considered an asset.
  • Access to reliable transportation to travel from site to site, as necessary.

Work Hours

This is a part‑time position with anticipated fluctuating work hours ranging from 25 to 30 hours per week, with the possibility of providing an option to convert to full‑time in the future.
