Job description
Position Overview

Under the direction of the Manager – Environmental Services, the Housekeeping Aide maintains assigned areas in a clean, sanitary, safe and orderly manner to ensure the highest degree of cleanliness. The incumbent also performs routine housekeeping tasks throughout the facility, with a primary focus on general cleaning.

The role requires independent judgment in prioritising work and handling unusual situations, while consistently aligning with the mission, vision and values of Southern Health‑Santé Sud.

Experience
  • Previous experience in industrial and/or commercial housekeeping.
Education
  • Minimum Grade 10 education (Manitoba standard).
  • Other suitable combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Certification / Licensure
  • Not Applicable.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Demonstrated verbal and written English proficiency.
  • Knowledge of safe handling of chemicals and cleaning supplies per manufacturer and facility procedures.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Problem‑solving ability within role responsibilities.
  • Flexibility to adapt to a changing environment and to modify techniques and procedures.
  • Respect for and promotion of cultural diversity; appreciation of a culturally diverse population.
  • Proficiency in both official languages required for bilingual positions.
  • Respect for confidentiality of paper, electronic and other formats.
  • Good work and attendance record.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence, an all‑purpose insured vehicle and liability insurance of at least $1 000 000.
Physical Requirements

  • May work evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • May be required to travel to other regional facilities.
