The ACC is a not-for-profit organization established in 1906 that has grown to include 33 backcountry huts and 25 volunteer-run sections across the country. We also organize seasonal programs, such as our annual General Mountaineering Camp, as well as Shadow Lake Lodge and our hostel in Canmore. JOB OVERVIEW

This position is being hired on a term basis to provide coverage during an upcoming maternity leave, our target start date is Feb 2nd, 2026. We are hoping for an experienced hospitality individual to join our team to support during this leave.

The Hostel and Reservations Manager is responsible for overseeing daily hostel operations, including managing hostel attendants and the hostel supervisor to ensure strong team coordination, up to date training and clear communication. This role ensures guest consumables are stocked, cleanliness is maintained, and guests enjoy a positive experience from check‑in to check‑out. The manager identifies areas for improvement and implements enhancements to the guest experience. They oversee all booking engines, rates, and availability for the Hostel, Huts, and Shadow Lake Lodge, identifying opportunities for growth and optimizing revenue. They are responsible for the hostel website, blog, social media, and OTA connections, ensuring all content, listings, and guest communications are current and updated seasonally. Oversee the Huts Reservation Agent, managing the booking system, rates, availability, and inquiries, while keeping the huts team aligned on projects and updates.

IDEAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Has a positive and engaging personality, and a strong knowledge of the ACC facilities network, member network and ACC history.
  • Has previous hotel or guest service experience, including phone and cash handling
  • Strong computer knowledge and experience in MS Office and Property Management Systems (Mews, HubSpot, Web Rez pro, Operto)
  • Are detail oriented, capable of keeping track of many tasks with competing priorities
  • Proven record of providing a great guest experience
  • French language is an asset
  • Post-Secondary diploma or degree, preferably in hospitality, or experience in a hospitality front office role
  • Experience in a leadership role, including scheduling, training, and performance management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the Hostel and Reservations teams, including recruitment, training, scheduling and performance management to ensure professional, knowledgeable and efficient interactions with all guests and ACC Members.
  • Oversee the guest experience at the Hostel, ensuring timely, friendly and professional service.
  • Ensure hostel cleanliness, maintenance and safety standards are maintained at a high and professional level.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning and office supplies for the hostel operations
  • Manage our Property Management System and connected tech solutions across multiple ACC products ensuring accurate availability, rates and messaging and operation.
  • Support the development and adherence to an annual operating budget for the Hostel within the assigned financial authority.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning process and annual capital purchasing for continual hostel development and improved guest experiences
  • Provide monthly and annual reports on hostel performance and maintenance needs
  • Promote and market the Canmore Alpine Hostel to achieve occupancy and revenue targets
  • Support the maintenance of the Canmore Alpine Hostel website. Keeping photos and information updated and relevant in cooperation with the marketing team.
  • Resolve customer issues, complaints, problems in a quick, efficient manner to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and quality service
  • Manage the reservation process for ACC Facilities, ensuring a good user experience.
  • Execute the hut lottery reservation process from lottery to reservation completion.
  • Support and enforce ACC and departmental policies, standards and procedures
  • Support Health and Safety at the hostel, ensuring safe work practices and documentation are maintained.
  • This role has after-hours, On-Call responsibilities. On-call during work week, may include holidays and weekends for hostel emergencies.
  • Must be able to perform the duties of a Hostel Attendant or Reservations Agent if required. May require physical abilities – lifting, standing, kneeling, etc.
