Overview

We offer paid education and practical training spanning over a minimum of 8 weeks (about 2 months). The training will be Monday – Friday in our branch office in Cornwall. The first part of your journey as a Bayshore employee will be receiving theoretical education. Following classroom education, you will be placed with a skilled preceptor to complete your practical training. You will learn the fundamentals to become a Home Support Worker. During your education you will have continuous access to a Bayshore Clinical Educator. Upon completion of the employer-specific training, you will start working immediately with Bayshore clients, in the local community.

The Details

No prior healthcare experience required. A friendly Recruiter will reach out to you by telephone to ask you some qualifying questions. No healthcare certificate or prior experience is required but considered an asset. Other experience that prepares you for HSW Training includes housekeeping, hospitality, dietary aide, companionship, foreign trained caregiver, and informal caregiving experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care and support with activities of daily living
  • Complete tasks such as skin care, hair care, mouth care, bathing, bowel, and bladder care
  • Help clients with comfortable positioning, lifts, transfers, and light exercising like assisted walking
  • General household management including light housekeeping, laundry, and meal preparation
  • Lead caring and meaningful conversations and activities focused on client emotional health
  • Use Infection Prevention & Control practices and protective equipment to keep you and your client safe

Foster a safe and comfortable environment for clients, promoting their independence and wellbeing. Build a strong rapport and trust with clients and their families through compassionate and attentive care. Maintain accurate records of client care activities and report any changes or concerns to the appropriate supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Ability to adapt to various situations with ease.
  • Are you eager to learn new skills and start working immediately after the training period?
  • You are available to attend minimum 8 weeks (about 2 months) paid training Monday - Friday 8 am-5 pm
  • You seek regular, guaranteed work hours each week in a full-time or part-time position.
  • You have a G or G2 Driver's License and a personal vehicle to drive independently each workday. You are willing to drive in a scheduling area from client to client, each workday.
  • You can work 3-4 weekdays, evenings as required and every other Saturday and Sunday
  • Must pass a background check
