- Operate heavy equipment
- Read blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements
- Measure distance, volume, length and weight
- Understand the purpose, proper usgage and information found on material safety data sheets (MSDS)
- Complete onboard and other logs
- Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment
- Prepare accident reports
- Secure special attachments to equipment
- Operate hydraulic pumping systems
- Review and analyze data such as subdivision, water and sewer plans
- Inspect spills of hazardous chemicals or products
- Enforce environmental, fire safety and accident prevention regulation
- Implement records scheduling and disposal plans
