POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Service Manager and Shop Foreman, the technician will be required to perform diagnostics and repairs on heavy‑duty trucks and in all areas of on‑highway vehicles.

The current operating hours are Monday to Friday 8.00 am to 5.30 pm, Technicians may be required to work weekends, and evenings.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, overhaul, and repair of various components of a variety of heavy‑duty trucks equipped with diesel engines and automated and manual transmissions.
  • Complete detailed, clear, and concise service reports.
  • Comply with the company health and safety program.
  • Communicate with Shop Foreman if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time or if there are additional repairs needed.
  • Communicate with the parts department efficiently to obtain the required parts to complete the repair.
  • Keep the service department neat, clean and safe.
  • Keep current with manufacturer training.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must have a valid HET journeyman certificate or Alberta Apprenticeship certificate.
  • Must have own tools.
  • Strong ability to understand and effectively use computer equipment.
  • Must be able to work in a high‑pressure environment safely.
  • Ability to follow the direction of a direct supervisor.
  • Proficient in planning workload in a timely manner.
  • Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts and draw conclusions.
