Baddeck's Victoria County Memorial opened in 1949 as a 23-bed Canadian Red Cross operated facility at 30 Old Margaree Rd., P.O. Box 220, Baddeck, Nova Scotia.

Position Details

Position: Full-Time Security Guard

Site: Victoria County Memorial Hospital

Hours: Monday to Friday (1500-2300hrs)

Payrate: $20.50

Key Responsibilities

1. Patrol hospital grounds, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure safety and security.
2. Operate surveillance systems, report suspicious activities immediately.
3. Monitor and control access points, ensuring only authorized personnel enter restricted areas.
4. Respond swiftly to emergencies, including medical, fire, or security threats; assist staff during crises and evacuations.
5. Greet and assist visitors, patients, and staff; provide directions and enforce hospital policies.
6. De-escalate tense situations and resolve conflicts professionally.
7. Accurately document incidents, activities, or accidents; complete incident reports.
8. Collaborate with hospital staff and law enforcement to coordinate security efforts.
9. Enforce hospital policies, address violations appropriately.

Prerequisites

1. Ability to obtain Security License for Nova Scotia.
2. Valid Standard First Aid & CPR Level C.
3. Covid Vaccine (two doses).
4. Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella, and two-step TB skin test.
5. Fluency in English (oral and written).
6. Preferred experience in security, law enforcement, or related fields.
7. Certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB).
8. Option to complete UOF/MOAB training before onboarding, at Paladin's expense, with a 6-month commitment.
