A Manitoba healthcare provider is seeking a Health Care Aide to provide care in a mental health setting. Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview
Experience
  • Experience providing care to individuals in a mental health setting, or with physical and cognitive impairments is preferred
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Successful completion of recognized Health Care Aide course required
Qualifications and Skills
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrating effective command of the English language
  • Knowledge of Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), Principles of Routine Practices and other relevant Workplace Safety and Health requirements/responsibilities
  • Knowledge of Indigenous customs, traditions and values is preferred
  • Ability to prioritize care for an individual patient or group of patients
  • Ability to respond to a variety of simultaneous demands
  • Ability to perform independently and as a member of the healthcare team
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations
  • Ability to recognize and pursue self-development opportunities
Physical Requirements
  • Moderate to heavy physical effort required. Involves physical activities such as standing, transferring, and transporting patients/residents and equipment
  • Requires shift work and will include evening, night or weekend shifts, or extended working hours as required
  • May encounter aggressive and/or agitated individuals

This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.
