Responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Head Accountant to oversee our company’s accounting and financial activities to ensure the integrity of our financial operations. The Head Accountant will manage financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and internal controls while providing strategic insights to support the president and team in their decision-making. This role is critical to maintaining the financial health, profitability, sustainability and the growth of the organization.

Daily accounting operations

  • Recording and tracking of financial transactions, including customer and supplier invoices, payments and receipts.
  • Bank, credit card and transactional website reconciliations
  • Accounts payables and receivables
  • Invoicing
  • Commission management
  • Send information to payroll department
  • Management and follow-up of retailer deductions
  • Preparation and submission of tax returns (QST, GST, Provincial Taxes, etc.).

Preparation of financial statements

  • All accounts reconciliations
  • Preparation of balance sheets, income statements and other monthly financial reports
  • Budget preparation and account analysis
  • Cash-flow monitoring
  • Development of internal control procedures to ensure the integrity of accounting data.

Complete month-end cycle and accounts closing

  • Monthly and annual closing of accounts.
  • Validate integrity of the ERP financial information in P&L and Balance sheet
  • Preparation of documents for internal audits and for the accounting firm end year.

Financial analysis

  • Carrying out financial analysis to support the company's strategic decisions.
  • Identifying opportunities to optimise costs and improve product and customer profitability.
  • Monitoring the financial KPIs in the budget and those required by our financial partners.
  • P&L per product, customer, region, distribution channel
  • COGS – Inventory – Forecasting

Supporting management

  • Analyzing and integrating AI into accounting tasks and all business internal activities to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Responsible for government grants and expenses report.
  • Support management in relations with financial partners
  • Preparing documentation for the Advisory Board
Profile

Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Organizational and time-management skills, capable of managing multiple deadlines. Ability to present complex financial data clearly. Good work ethic.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of progressive accounting or financial management.
  • Experience in CPG environment or related field.
  • Proficiency in accounting / ERP software
  • Bilingual
