In this role, as a Group Underwriter, you will work with the Group Underwriting team to ensure Medavie Blue Cross achieves its financial targets on the group health, life, and disability income lines of business.

Key Responsibilities

1. Establish renewal pricing, including analysis of experience/trends to justify renewal reasons and recommend pricing alternatives. Respond to client inquiries related to pricing and experience.
2. Set rates for new group business and address financial questions within specifications.
3. Prepare financial statements for ASO and Retention groups according to financial agreements.
4. Draft and update financial agreements.
5. Ensure underwriting targets are met for growth and profitability.
6. Develop and maintain direct relationships with clients and producers.
7. Collaborate with internal sales staff, Case Management, Group Admin, and external agents/brokers/consultants, and policyholders.

Qualifications

• Education: Post-secondary education
• Work Experience: Minimum of two years in Group Underwriting
• Computer Skills: Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word
• Language Skills: Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset
• Other Qualifications: Enjoy working in a team environment; strong communication skills; self-directed with high accountability; excellent reasoning, judgment, and decision-making skills; strong analytical skills with high attention to detail; excellent time-management skills; ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
