Job summary

A leading software company in Newfoundland and Labrador is looking for a recent graduate for an entry-level Software Developer role. The position involves developing and testing software features, as well as collaborating with a development team to enhance company products. Candidates should have a degree in Computer Science or a related field and experience in game engine or full-stack development. Qualifications

  • Ability to work full-time in Newfoundland and Labrador starting January 2026.
  • Legally entitled to work full-time in Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • Completion of a minimum one-year post-secondary or skills-training program within the past two years.
  • Not currently enrolled as a full-time student.

Since 2016, Birch Scientific has enabled innovative energy and environmental clients to achieve their goals through consulting, training and R&D support in software. Birch also provides a digital twin SaaS platform which enables improved design, monitoring and co-piloting through an AI‑enhanced digital twin platform.

This entry‑level role is ideal for recent graduates beginning their careers in software engineering.

Responsibilities
  • Develop code to support client projects or provide new features within company products.
  • Test and debug software features to ensure correct and expected operation.
  • Document designs, API references and user guides for software developed.
  • Communicate and collaborate with existing software development team to coordinate the above activities effectively.
Eligibility Requirements (Graduate Transition Initiative)
  • Ability to work full‑time in Newfoundland and Labrador starting January 2026.
  • Legally entitled to work full‑time in Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • Completion (within the past two years) of a minimum one‑year post‑secondary or skills‑training program at a recognized NL institution (e.g., MUN, CNA, Keyin College, Get Building, etc.).
  • Not currently enrolled as a full‑time student.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Computer Science, Electrical and Computing Engineering or equivalent experience and background
  • Experience with game engine development
  • Experience with full stack development (e.g. js, React, Python)
  • Experience with AI/ML workflows.

The initiative provides support to eligible companies that hire recent graduates into software development and tech sales roles, providing meaningful early‑career experience while supporting long‑term growth in Newfoundland and Labrador’s tech sector.
