Your opportunity:
The Office of the Dean is a collaborative unit that works extensively with faculty and staff across the University of Toronto and, in particular, on the Mississauga campus. Staff work together closely to rapidly respond to a myriad of academic issues. Our academic programming is innovative and creative and designed to equip students for the future as we emphasize communication, innovation and sustainability throughout our curriculum. The Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs team stewards academic and community development for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows at UTM, through leading initiatives on campus, serving as a resource to academic departments, and allocating resources and funding.

The Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs Specialist is responsible for administering funding and awards and providing administrative support for graduate and postdoctoral studentsat UTM. The Specialist supports planning and data analysis for new and existing graduate programs and works with the Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs team to support programming for the UTM graduate and postdoctoral community.

Your responsibilities will include:

-Tracking and monitoring distribution of awards.
-Implementing plans for awards programs and related objectives.
-Planning and overseeing short and long range activities that support financial administration.
-Producing complex statistical and/or financial reports.
-Advising staff on accounting practices and University financial policies and procedures.
-Interpreting and applying policies and procedures when making independent decisions.
-Coordinating tasks for projects and other strategic initiatives with stakeholders.
-Serving as a resource on specific issues to a group of specialists.


Essential Qualifications:

-Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience in a field such as accounting, business administration, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
-Minimum four years of administrative and/or financial management experience, preferably in a University setting.
-Experience in budget analysis, account reconciliation and analyzing financial information.
-Experience working with the University’s Financial Information System (FIS) and Human Resources Information System (HRIS) or other related financial and payroll systems.
-Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with interpreting policies and procedures of the University of Toronto or other related educational institutions.
-Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
-Proficient using analytical software/spreadsheets/data visualization tools.
-Good organizational ability.
-Excellent written and oral communication skills.
-Strong interpersonal skills, good judgement, tact.

Assets (Nonessential):

-Familiarity with graduate finance and awards processes
-Experience administering or supporting a tri-campus graduate program or postdoctoralfellowships
