Job summary

Island Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide nursing care to patients of all ages, ensuring patient and staff safety as a priority. The RN will work under the direction of the Head Nurse and/or physician, utilizing skills from recognized training programs. Qualifications include registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives, with a strong emphasis on acute care nursing skills, adaptability in community settings, and the ability to exercise sound judgment in professional nursing care.

Qualifications

  • Must possess the skill and demonstrated ability to perform the required duties and maintain acceptable standards of practice.

Responsibilities

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

To provide nursing care under the direction of the Head Nurse and or physician to selected patient of all ages whose needs will vary from minimal assistant to total personal care. Skills acquired through a recognized training programs will be utilized to help the patient return to optimum health.

QUALIFICATIONS:Education, Training And Experience

Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant. Must possess the skill and demonstrated ability to perform the required duties and maintain acceptable standards of practice.

Skills And Abilities

  • Knowledge of and skill in acute care nursing and community nursing.
  • Ability to adapt clinical and professional skills to the home and community settings.
  • Valid drivers licence.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Considerable judgement in professional nursing care.
