LANGUAGES REQUIRED: English is required. Knowledge of French is a strong asset

Are you a data-oriented fundraiser? WUSC is currently looking for a Fundraising Database Officer to support our donation data management.

BACKGROUND

WUSC is a Canadian global development organization working to catalyze positive education and economic outcomes for young people. We bring together and collaborate with a diverse network of partners (including students, volunteers, schools, governments, not-for-profits, and businesses) who share this mission. Together, we influence systems change, and foster inclusive, youth-centered solutions that enable young people to thrive. We work with all young people, with a focus on women and displaced populations. WUSC currently operates in 28 countries across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as in Canada, with an annual budget of approximately CAD $65 million. Our global team includes over 100 staff in Canada and more than 250 staff internationally, implementing a diverse portfolio of development projects in collaboration with numerous multilateral and bilateral donors, and philanthropic foundations.

Responsibilities

This position is for you if you are a detail-oriented data specialist who thrives on maintaining database integrity while translating complex donor and campaign information into actionable insights. You should be comfortable with managing both the technical aspects of fundraising platforms and the human elements of donor communications. You are a proficient Salesforce user, and can seek additional training or liaise with internal experts if your ambitions exceed your skill level. You are a person who is eager to take leadership on spotting trends and presenting them through clear visualizations and reports.

Responsibilities

Contact Management & Data Analytics

  • Maintain Salesforce data integrity through accurate contact and donation records and systematic deduplication
  • Execute data cleaning through email validation, and data enrichment through research and outreach to update contact information of alumni and donor prospects
  • Manage segmented mailing lists and ensure proper data syncing between platforms (e.g. Salesforce, MailChimp)
  • Build and interpret regular fundraising reports covering revenue, campaign performance, and donor behaviour trends.
  • Lead documentation of data processes and strategically engage external analytics consultants.

Donation Processing

  • Process and record all donations in Salesforce according to established procedures
  • Generate tax receipts following CRA guidelines and maintain comprehensive gift processing records
  • Monitor donation platforms (e.g. CanadaHelps, Raisin) for system issues and maintain quality donor experience through updated content and automated communications
  • Document and update gift processing procedures, flagging any opportunities to improve processes and workflows between departments
  • Collaborate with IT and Finance team on system integrations, including ERP updates and Salesforce donation feature testing

Qualifications and Competencies

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in business, communications, nonprofit management, international development or related field

Experience & Competencies

  • Minimum of two years' experience in a fundraising or database management role
  • Proficiency in Salesforce (user level) and Google Workspace
  • Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills including sorting, filtering, and basic formulas
  • Experience with email marketing platforms
  • Experience with donation platforms like CanadaHelps and Raisin an asset
  • Understanding of basic data privacy and CASL compliance requirements
  • Ability to follow established protocols for data migration between platforms
  • Experience in nonprofit organization and/or international development preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (French an asset)
  • Experience providing customer service or donor support
  • Commitment to WUSC's mission and values

Languages

  • Complete fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French is a strong asset.
