Job summary

Scheduling Requirements
  • FT Position available: PSW must be available for 37.5-40 hours of work per week
  • MUST be available Monday-Friday, flexibility for day, evening, and overnight shifts preferred.
  • MUST be able to commit to a consistent, ongoing, weekly schedule for the foreseeable future
  • Available and willing to see multiple clients throughout the day
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide personal care to clients as outlined in their care plans.
  • Provide companionship and light housekeeping (whatever it takes to help a person stay at home).
  • Prepare meals in accordance to the client and/or the family's request (must be open to preparing different kinds of cuisine).
  • Adhere to providing personal care and help clients with their ADLs that is within the scope of practice for a Personal Support Worker.
  • Assists clients in all activities of daily living/hygiene assistance, bathing, grooming, linen changes and so forth.
  • Assists clients with transfers, ambulation and exercises.
  • Meets the safety needs of the client and uses equipment safely and properly.
  • Functions within the limits of own experience and knowledge, and practices safely and competently within the job description.
  • Completes records and documentation accurately and thoroughly.
Qualifications
  • MUST have a valid driver's license and reliable access to a car that can be used for daily work.
  • Ability to travel between assignments within designated areas of work; an asset if you can travel to rural/remote areas.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English.
  • PSW certification from an approved and recognized educational institution or International nursing/doctorate certification.
  • Negative TB Test completed within the last year.
  • Valid CPR/First Aid Certificate.
  • Valid WHMIS2015 Certificate of Completion.
  • COVID Vaccination Receipts subject to an exemption pursuant to Ontario’s Human Rights Code.
  • Immunization for measles, rubella, varicella, tetanus, and Diphtheria required; immunization of Hepatitis B is strongly urged.
  • Valid Criminal Record Check – must be completed within the last year.
  • Ability to identify and report client care concerns to Care Coordinators when needed.
  • Requires good judgement, the ability to work independently, and work cooperatively with an interdisciplinary team.
  • Current/Valid Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) Registration an asset.
