Job description
Job Purpose

Working collaboration with hospital teams, community services, and other system partners, the Dietitian is responsible for managing the nutritional care of patients or clients. This is professional dietetics practice in either clinical nutrition, community nutrition needs or food service operations towards the attainment, maintenance, and promotion of the health of individuals, groups, and the community.

Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in nutrition or dietetics and successful completion of an accredited internship program.
  • Must be registered and a member in good standing with the New Brunswick Association of Dietitians.
  • Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) and completion of the Certification Program for Insulin Dose Adjustment considered an asset.
  • A demonstrated understanding of population health, health promotion, and the social determinant of health is considered an asset in the community setting.
  • Ability to travel for client appointments and community meetings using own transportation for those working in Public Health.
  • Ability to attend work on a regular basis.
  • Ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Good work record.
Key Responsibilities
  • Review patient medical history, symptoms, medications, laboratory tests, and anthropometric data (BMI, height, ideal or standard body weight).
  • Establish a nutrition care plan, coordinate care, and provide behaviour modification and counselling techniques.
  • Document assessments, interventions, treatment plans, and communication with the care team.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary care planning or community assessments.
  • Prepare and present information and education sessions.
  • Provide mentoring and support for students.
  • Participate in developing, maintaining, and evaluating policies and procedures.
