Responsibilities

The Foreman will be responsible for leading hourly unionized employees, preparing the team to operate safely while still focusing on the needs of our customers. You will assist in meeting and exceeding processing goals daily, maintain and perform small repairs on tools and equipment, and observe and report on safety to the Operations Manager. You will also ensure work areas are maintained and kept clean.

  • Lead yard operators and trade people during the daily yard operations
  • Manage the work area housekeeping and ground maintenance to the yard
  • Communicate using a Handheld radio with yard employees regarding material purchase and yard safety
  • Support the variety of activities essential not limited to loaders, excavators/mobiles shear, Material handler and other equipment used in yard operation
  • Report every safety observation in the yard and report to the manager
  • Perform preventative maintenance as required on all equipment
  • Perform Torch cutting as required to the Ferrous materials
  • Perform repair as required to equipment
  • Operate heavy equipment used in loading/unloading of ferrous or nonferrous material
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • 1-3 years of leadership roles (military, lead hand, supervisor or management experience)
  • A valid Driver's License required
  • Ability to lead inside and outside workforce
  • Ability to build and retain a strong team
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Completion of High School and/or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Automotive components is a definite asset
  • Mechanical or electrical tickets are considered an asset
