Position

Food Services Supervisor – Acute Care

Status

Permanent Part-Time

Site

Brampton Civic & Etobicoke General Hospitals

Hours of Work/Shifts

Flexible to work full and part-time day and evening shifts, including weekends.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise, train, mentor, evaluate, and schedule front-line food service staff involved in receiving, food preparation, portioning, service, delivery, collection, and warewashing activities.
  • Conduct routine audits and tours of food service areas and patient care units to ensure adherence to departmental policies, safety standards, and quality requirements.
  • Supervise unionized personnel and/or students, including workload management, assignment delegation, performance monitoring, and corrective or disciplinary actions in accordance with the CUPE collective agreement.
  • Oversee food supply management and meal preparation processes to ensure compliance with standardized menus, diet orders, and production procedures.
  • Participate in departmental planning, continuous quality improvement, and operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Support cost-control measures and monitor resource utilization.
  • Model professional conduct and reinforce adherence to all policies, procedures, and customer-service standards.
  • Promote and maintain a safe, respectful environment that safeguards patient, staff, and organizational confidentiality.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, infection prevention, WHMIS, emergency procedures, and other regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an approved Food & Nutrition Management program or a university graduate of a Food & Nutrition program required.
  • Membership in Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (CSNM) required.
  • Advanced Food Service Handlers Certification required.
  • Minimum 2 years health care supervisory experience in a unionized environment required.
  • Good understanding of food service operations within a health care setting including food service systems, quality checks, food service equipment, emergency codes, food safety, WHMIS, infection control and patient confidentiality.
  • Experience working with cold-plating, food service systems preferred.
  • Proficiency with Computrition, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and related operational software.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve operational issues, prioritize requests and handle multiple tasks and deadlines while maintaining a positive approach and customer service focus.
