Role Description

As a volunteer, you are responsible for making the DSU Food Bank a welcoming place for those who access it.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Registration accessing the food bank.
  • Prepare food bank orders in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Assist with food choices and shelf options.
  • Unpack food deliveries and stock shelves.
  • Cleaning of food areas.
  • Opening and closing duties as outlined.
  • Follow instructions and complete tasks independently.
Required Skills
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Comfortability with AirTable, or other database entry
  • Ability to keep confidentiality
  • Comfortable interacting with people
  • Patient and non-judgemental
  • Detail-oriented with a strong ability to self-motivate

Training
  • Is currently done during scheduled volunteer times
  • Support, supervision & evaluation provided ongoing during volunteer terms
Time Commitment Expected
  • Volunteers are asked to commit to at least one regularly scheduled shift every week.
