A financial services provider in Bradford West Gwillimbury is seeking a Financial Controller to oversee all accounting operations related to construction projects. The successful candidate will lead job cost accounting, financial reporting, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. A Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Finance and over 5 years of construction accounting experience are required. The role offers a competitive salary ranging from $100,000 to $120,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
The Financial Controller will lead all accounting and financial operations related to construction projects, ensuring accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, and robust internal controls. This role is pivotal in driving project cost management, contract accounting, and delivering timely, strategic financial insights to senior leadership.
Lead all accounting operations, including job cost accounting, general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and financial reporting.
Oversee construction-specific accounting processes, including:
Prepare, review, and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Monitor project budgets, analyze cost variances, and partner with project management teams to proactively mitigate financial risk.
Direct billing operations, including progress billings, retainage, and lien waiver compliance.
Ensure compliance with tax regulations, contractual obligations, and applicable accounting standards.
Manage cash flow forecasting, treasury functions, and banking relationships.
Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, ensuring operational excellence and accuracy.
Coordinate external audits and liaise with tax advisors and legal counsel.
Design, implement, and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies.
