Job description
Overview

Our client, a large and growing construction company, is looking to hire a Financial Analyst. This role will focus on financial accounting and analysis, reporting into the Manager of Finance. The organization is specifically looking for candidates that have experience in full cycle accounting. This role is 5 days per week in office in Vaughan.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly consolidated Financial Statements in accordance with IFRS to support the financial close process.
  • Explain Balance Sheet and Income Statement variances to budget & forecast.
  • Reconcile income tax payable account for all entities to consolidated balance sheet.
  • Analyze and review Work on Hand Schedules for accuracy and ensure revenue and cost of sales match Financial Statements.
  • Ensure revenue is recognized in accordance with percentage of completion accounting for long term construction contracts.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries for the overhead accrual, IFRS 16 lease accounting, and intercompany transactions including supporting documentation.
  • Prepare weekly cash forecast for the consolidated entity including analysis of any variances from the prior week.
  • Perform daily bank reconciliation including journal entries.
  • Assist with timesheet processing, revenue journal entries, and payroll journal entries.
  • Participate in the issuance of monthly job cost sheets including analyzing and reviewing for accuracy prior to issuance.
  • Review and ensure accuracy of monthly Balance Sheet account reconciliations.
  • Update schedules monthly for tax purposes.
  • Participate in interim and year-end audits.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Prepare and reconcile sales taxes (GST, QST, US state sales taxes, BC self-remit PST).
  • Prepare monthly unrealized FX journal entries, calculate and enter monthly Realized FX entries.
  • Ensure intercompany accounts are reconciled and balanced.
  • Make suggestions for the improvement of internal controls.
  • Participate in future system implementations as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
  • CPA or pursuing a CPA designation would be considered an asset.
  • 1-3+ years working experience in a complex mid to large size organization.
  • Be organized, results-driven, pro-active and deadline-oriented.
  • Have strong analytical skills and be able to translate analytical findings into recommendations.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively while managing multiple priorities.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with ERP systems is considered an asset.
